Discussion - "S'émerveiller"
27th March 2025

Join us on Thursday 27 March at 6pm at the gallery for a conversation between art historian and curator Amélie Adamo and artist Maxime Verdier as part of his solo exhibition ‘Le monde dans un grain de sable'.
In partnership with a selection of galleries in the Marais district of Paris, art historian and curator Amélie Adamo will be working with the artists scheduled for solo shows in 2025, inviting them to discuss the notion of wonder. These exchanges, based on the works on show, are a chance to immerse yourself in the singularity of the artists' approaches, but also to question some of the key issues in contemporary art. What place is there for contemplation, a time for dreaming, the unknown and the strange in an age of normative overproductivity, unlimited virtual flux, crisis and disenchantment? How can the magic of art astonish us, enchant us and shift our gaze to see differently? Whether it's looking at the beauty of endangered nature or paying attention to others and the everyday things we no longer see, whether it's a journey into a dreamlike, marvellous world populated by fantasies and myths, art is a source of wonder because it lifts the veil on another reality. Far from laziness, habit, social injunctions and commonplaces, art reconnects us with an unknown part of the world and of ourselves. It awakens that sleeping, strange, hidden part, reminding us that we are beings of flesh and stars.
