Invited to take over the heritage rooms of the former medieval abbey, now part of the Musée de la faïence et des beaux-arts de Nevers, Julien Discrit invites us, through a series of works and installations, revisited or newly created, to pay attention to our experience of time. It's an opportunity to highlight one of the determining factors in his art.
Using a few singular dates or chronological scales as his subject matter, he unfolds the work of our memory and gradually takes us back to the times we have lived through, where past and future are always conjugated in the present tense. ... And sometimes our attention is drawn for a few moments to these afterglimpses that pop up unexpectedly on the back of our closed eyelids.

Traces and journeys of life, metamorphosis and memory, Julien Discrit's works never cease to probe our understanding of the world and the living.

They are often inspired by knowledge, but unlike scientific data or representations, they do not seek to order the world. Rather, we might say that they operate by reversal: if they do indeed derive from the knowledge called upon, they restore it to us in the depths of reality, where the order of objectivity does not erase the order of sensitivity and emotion, of reminiscence and imagination.
In so doing, they induce in the viewer a profound and persistent sensation.
