Born in 1969 in Paris, where she lives and works, Valérie Mréjen explores the particularities of fiction in several forms, between the visual arts, cinema and literature.
Following on from her work ‘Images en quête d'histoires' with the FRAC Île de France in 2016, and more recently her exhibition ‘Je collectionne les cartes postales' at the Anne-Sarah Bénichou gallery in Paris (2023), Valérie Mréjen will be presenting a new series of works on paper inspired by her postcard collections at the Maison des Arts in Bages from 28 June to 31 August 2025.
At the heart of her research and work for many years, these recomposed existing images, punctuated with fragments of dreams and messages tending to link them, sometimes enlarged and enhanced with gouache, invite us to follow narratives. In the artist's words, these are all opportunities to ‘remake the world as it is not'.
